District of Columbia Multidisciplinary Protocol for Commercially Sexually Exploited Children (CSEC MDT)
The purpose of this protocol, created by the Washington, D.C. Superior Court, Family Court CSEC Subcommittee with support from the Center for Court Innovation, is to ensure that justice-involved commercially sexually exploited children (CSEC) are effectively identified, monitored, and directed to appropriate services. A multidisciplinary team approach (hereinafter “CSEC MDT”) is utilized to help close gaps in practice and information sharing, and to improve outcomes for CSEC victims. The MDT model –which includes law enforcement, the Office of the Attorney General, the DC Superior Court, probation, child welfare, and social services – outlines agency roles and responsibilities to enhance information sharing, identify victims, and improve case outcomes.
